House Update – Week Three

It has been 3 weeks since we received an offer on the house and it all seems to be moving along nicely. The mortgage paperwork was all signed on Friday, we have paid for searches, and our survey should be done next week. Unfortunately we are in a chain 6 links long, which is the first time I have ever experienced a chain and it’s a bit daunting.

I have been busy going through each room and sorting out the junk, and trying to reduce the amount of stuff we have to move. Which is no easy task when you have a habit of hoarding! On a plus the new house has a lot more space and 2 big storage cupboards. Here is a comparison of our current house and the one we are buying.

Current shopping list for the new house:

  • full size dishwasher
  • single bed for bedroom 4
  • replacement mattress for Dominik
  • wardrobes x 2
  • chest of drawers x 4
  • small table & chairs

Because the kids are still quite young and still enjoy their toys, we are making bedroom 2 into a playroom for them to all share.  Plus it will have a small table & chairs for them to do craft/home work on. So the whole 1st floor is basically for the kids with their bedrooms, bathroom and playroom. Although if you ask the husband, he claims the play room is going to be his man cave and cinema.

Here are some pictures from RightMove of the house, its all very magnolia so great starting base… cant wait to get in there with some F&B Downpipe Grey. Over the next few weeks I am going to start creating mood boards for every room.

I will be documenting the whole journey of selling and buying, plus the move and then the transformation from a magnolia box to some thing I will be proud to call my home. If you have any questions, leave a comment below and I will respond.

House renovations can be so stressful but it seems like you have everything under control. I like what you’re doing with the place, will be much more of a home to your when you’ve personalised it

That’s a fabulous blank canvas you are taking on! I’m a little envious – having to tackle a lot of electrics and plumbing before I can get to the fun decorating part!
